Starting April 2025, more than 1,200 civil servants across Romania will participate in a national training program on sustainable development, organized by Goldbach Consulting (part of Goldbach Group), in partnership with the University of Bucharest and Ascendis Consulting.

Running from April to July, this postgraduate program aims to equip participants with the knowledge and tools to become sustainability experts who can help their communities grow stronger, more inclusive, and better prepared for the future.

What is sustainable development?

Sustainable development refers to a set of long-term strategies that support economic and social well-being without compromising future generations or damaging the environment. It involves actions that promote fair economic growth, reduce social inequality, and fight pollution and climate change.

But these goals cannot be achieved without local leadership. Experts in sustainable development are key to driving change within communities – by identifying best practices, engaging with stakeholders, and evaluating the long-term impact of solutions.

A program designed to support community transformation

Over eight weeks of blended learning (both in-person and online), participants will gain essential skills to influence public policy and lead transformative local initiatives.

“Sustainable development is about building a better present and future – by creating a more equitable society, protecting natural resources, and addressing climate challenges. Through this training program, we aim to empower civil servants at all levels to apply sustainable practices in their communities and support public administration reform,” said Celestina Dumitrescu, General Manager of Goldbach Consulting.

The program is implemented on behalf of the General Secretariat of the Romanian Government (SGG) and will take place in five key regions: North-West, Center, North-East, South-West Oltenia, and West. It is fully funded by Romania’s National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), with a total budget of 5.3 million lei.
